Erigeron philadelphicus

Attended rehearsal today and again became very curious about plants and how little I know.

For example, I did not know that the USDA hosts a website with a homepage feature “Plant of The Week.”

This week’s lucky plant is the Philadelphia fleabane
(Erigeron philadelphicus), which actually grows in every state in the U.S. except Arizona and Utah.  I also enjoyed checking out the “Culturally Significant” plants on this site.

The Latin names of plants are mysterious and exotic, unless you know Latin. Here’s a plant pronunciation guide I found helpful.
